Motivational Monday: Don't Stop It!

Howdy Pretties!

I know you are doing so well! It's our "MM" today and our topic for discussion might be a little difficult to implement basically because of the present economy of our country but I don't think that should be a barrier when you think of the impact and blessings of your acts. A little kindness will do no harm.

I heard a feeble knock on my door that sunny afternoon and on getting to the door, I met two young sad faces. They were ushered in lovingly but with quizzical look all over.
The elder handed over a little folded paper to me, I became more scared because of the look on their faces but the younger said "my mum told us to give you". With anxiety, I read through this note and I cried silently.
These adorables had not eaten since the afternoon before and it was 3:20 pm of that day meaning they had stayed for 24 hours without food. OMG!!! We were all done eating lunch but thank God for mum's advice.

My mum's advice: You should always cook for the family with at least one additional 'visitor' because you never can tell who will come knocking at your door and honestly, I grew up seeing my parents do this and it has always put a smile on people's faces. I'm so happy I heeded/heeding to her advice and I derive so much joy in doing this.๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Some minutes later, the two adorables were beaming with smile and I heard them talking audibly since their arrival. I could hear them play with my adorables and they were all giggling away. Words cannot explain the happiness and fulfillment I felt within me!

Of course, the needful was done aside just feeding them and I am so humbled to be used by God to be a blessing to my neighbour( not my next door neighbour but as the Bible says; "Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself" Mark 12:31.
With the present economy of the country, the slogan everywhere is recession this, recession that! Please, don't let that halt you from giving if it's within your capacity.
Giving is not only monetary, clothing nor feeding. It could be as little as giving a friend a shoulder to lean on, giving encouraging words, giving love, having someone's back and the list is endless.

This story above isn't fictional, it's actually just one of the numerous I have experienced but this is so unforgettable because of the adorables involved.

Lessons learnt
*Your widow's mite could be a life saver.
*Never underestimate the power of giving.
*The hands that give stays on top always.

Motivational Monday: An Alternative Route

Hello Pretties!

Thank God for the beginning of another lovely week. I traveled Lagos -Ibadan express way last Thursday and it was a terrible traffic gridlock. Honestly something has to be done regarding this (an alternative route at least)...end of rant, lol!

The kids had a mid-term break on Thursday and Friday and it was all about "sorry, don't do that again; stop it!; who did it?; stop running and the list goes on". It's great having them around but just forget your "me time", they'll so deprive you that you'll want to "export" them to their granny that actually enjoys all their activities.
Phew! At last, they are back in school today, thank God...#raises both hands up#.

Lessons learnt

Looking back at the traffic jam, the obstructions and potholes. I didn't alight from the car, I sat still because I hadn't gotten to my destination. I was tired and weary but trekking was not an option because I had a long way to go.
Yes! You have been through those tough times or are still passing through a critical phase in your life.

I was deprived of my space for those two days of mid-break become I allowed it. Sometimes, we allow our present situation to be our dictator.

My dearest, quitting is not an option, you've got to be calm, re-strategies, focus and keep moving. The sky is your starting point though it could be the limit for others.

You hold the key to your greatness. Use it wisely!

The First Date

Hi Great Ones๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Happy New Month!!! May our dearest heart desires be met just before the year comes to an end.

This wasn't today's scheduled post but I remembered this just now and thought we should discuss it.

A friend of mine was to go on a date with a guy she's been communicating with via phone and text. On the said day, she stopped by at my house to pass time because the date was later in the evening. Honestly when I saw her, my first question was... Is this what you'll be wearing for the date? She answered in the affirmative but I wasn't so pleased, we discussed it and let the matter rest.

She actually said, her dressing was intentional because she was most comfortable in that "unusual dress" for the day. This is a friend I've known for years and will never be caught in such, lol! Some hours later, she was back home and we spoke over the phone.

Our conversation
Pretty Diyem: How did it go?
My Friend: Great, we talked liked we've been friends for years.
Pretty Diyem: Whao! Good to know.
My Friend: (change of voice tone). He asked why I dressed "that way", he gave me a quizzical look and I was so uncomfortable. He suggested and even pointed to a lady as to how he would have loved I dressed. Also asked why I didn't make my hair.
Pretty Diyem: ( I was attentive with my mouth open as in awww), I wanted to say I told you but didn't so as not aggravate the issue.

 My observations
I didn't like the fact that he condemned her dressing that day and even compared her with a random passer-by. The essence of the date was ruined by his comments. I'm not saying a guy shouldn't remark about his chick's look but in this case, they ain't even in a relationship. What do you think?

Let's discuss!
Should a guy say such on a first date?
If you were the lady, what would your reaction be?

P.S: The unusual dress I meant was not in the negative but she was so covered up like a nun (pun intended)๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Turtle neck top and ankle length skirt...you should be laughing with me now, lol. Who dresses to a date like that? She was a team natural hence the hair question.

The Greatest Sacrifice

Happy Monday Dearies!

How did your weekend go? October is on it's way out and November is standing by to come in. All thanks to our Great God for keeping us all fit and hale.

Over the weekend, I was preparing lunch for the family and was in so much pain, ouch! Did I stop cooking?Absolutely no!
There are two persons in my family that do not like eating boiled beef, chevon, chicken, fish...just name it, I "must" fry them else, they'll eat very little and forfeit the whole essence of my cooking. Who would spend hours in the kitchen fixing a meal and "two persons" wouldn't eat that sumptuous meal, no way! It ain't happening?๐Ÿ˜ƒYou'll be wondering why I was in pains in the kitchen...hhmmm! I was preparing "fried" fish stew to be eaten with boiled sweet potatoes and by now you would have guessed why I was "ouching and ouching". That very hot oil from my old frying pain splashed on my wrist and I suffered a little burn and blisters but I'm healing well.

The Bible says I should forgive 70 X 7 times anyone who offends me so I have forgiven way more than this number hence I can decide on what to do.
Here is my judgement: You are hereby sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with no work, no hard labour but just to sleep and another will be replacing you. Phew! That was fair, wasn't it?

My new pan I had bought for years will be resuming duty... Sniff! Sniff! I'll be missing my old frying pan that I have refused to let go for so long but hey, we need change sometimes. We all make sacrifices for our loved ones in so many ways we sometimes do not even realise. Even while in pains, we still persevere and keep at whatever we're doing.

What's that "special old thing" you have refused to let go?
How did you feel when you eventually let go of it?What great sacrifice have you ever made for your loved ones?
I'm all ears, let it out.

Have a productive week ahead.

P.S: The "must" is actually not a must because they'll eat it without complaining but I don't get my full compliment for all my labour of love in the kitchen. Who doesn't enjoy compliments?๐Ÿ˜ƒ

P.P.S: A deep fryer isn't an option for frying fish because I'll be needing lots of vegetable oil and I wouldn't want to re-use it but with a frying pan, a little oil will just be fine.
